Admiral D. K. Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Vice Chairman of the Islands Development Agency, led the islanders in paying rich tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on the occasion of his 129th Birth Anniversary on Friday.
The tribute ceremony was held at the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the Marina Park Complex, where the Lieutenant Governor offered floral tributes in honour of the legendary freedom fighter. He was joined by the Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, Mr. Vivek Aggarwal, IAS, the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, along with other senior officers of the Administration.
Members of the general public were also present at the solemn ceremony, paying homage to Netaji and recalling his immense contribution to India’s freedom struggle. The occasion witnessed a spirit of patriotism and reverence as the islanders remembered Netaji’s ideals of courage, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to the nation.
