Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency who is on visit to Southern Group of Islands reached Nancowrie Island on 27th April 2023. He took passage overnight in MV Nalanda from Haddo Jetty, Port Blair and interacted with Officers/crew enroute. On arrival at Nancowrie, Hon’ble Lt Governor was received by Senior Officers of Andaman & Nicobar Administration, Andaman & Nicobar Police & Tribal representatives.
Later, Hon’ble Lt Governor took passage in Indian Coast Guard Ship Rajshree, Fast Petrol Vessel to visit Mackachua & Afra Bay. On arrival at Mackachua village, Hon’ble Lt Governor interacted with the Vice-Chairperson, Tribal Councils and held meeting with locals and Govt. Officials. Hon’ble Lt Governor heard issues of Tribal representatives and directed for early redressal of their issues.
Continuing the trip, Hon’ble Lt Governor reached Afra Bay where the Tribal Community accorded a warm welcome to the Hon’ble Lt Governor and presented cultural programme. Hon’ble Lt Governor interacted with the Chairperson, Tribal Council and held meeting with locals and Govt. Officials at Afra Bay. Hon’ble Lt Governor also heard issues of the Tribal representatives and directed for early resolutions of their grievances.
Later in the evening, Hon’ble Lt Governor reached Campbell Bay. Today (28th April 2023), Hon’ble Lt Governor will hold meeting with the PRI Members, Govt. Officials and public at APWD Guest House, Campbell Bay.
On his return journey from Campbell Bay to Port Blair via Car Nicobar, Hon’ble Lt Governor will visit AIR FM Transmitter Station at Car Nicobar in the afternoon today (April 28).
