Mahila Congress Holds ‘Mahila Sammelan’ in A&N Islands; Newly Appointed Mahila Congress State President Zubaida Begum Takes Oath

The Pradesh Mahila Congress, under the leadership of its newly appointed State President, Ms. Zubaida Begum, successfully organised the ‘Mahila Sammelan’ at Gandhi Bhawan, Sri Vijaya Puram, on March 1, 2025. The event was attended by several senior leaders, including Ms. Alka Lamba, National President of Mahila Congress and former MLA from Delhi, Ms. Shafia Zubair, former MLA from Rajasthan, Mr. Rangalal Halder, President of the Andaman and Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC), and Mr. TSG Bhasker, Chairman of the Campaign Committee, ANTCC.

During the Sammelan, Ms. Zubaida Begum took the oath of office in the presence of the distinguished guests and over 200 women attendees. She reaffirmed her commitment to empowering women and strengthening the organisation in the region.

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Alka Lamba highlighted the vital role of women in politics and society. She urged Mahila Congress members to actively work toward gender equality and grassroots empowerment.

Ms. Zubaida Begum, in her speech, underscored the importance of women’s participation in governance and policymaking, emphasising the need for greater representation of women in leadership roles.

A significant highlight of the event was the inauguration of the new Mahila Congress office at Gandhi Bhawan by Ms. Alka Lamba. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter for the party’s women’s wing. This was followed by a celebratory cake-cutting ceremony, symbolising unity, progress, and the collective aspirations of Mahila Congress members.
