In a significant stride against the illicit drug trade, the Police Station (PS) Diglipur has made a substantial breakthrough by seizing a cache of Methamphetamine drugs under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This successful operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat the menace of illicit drugs in the North & Middle Andaman District.
Acting on credible intelligence, a team of dedicated officers from PS Diglipur, led by Inspector K. Binoj, the Station House Officer (SHO), and comprising Head Constable Santosh Nair, and Police Constables Abubacker Siddique, Samaresh Mistry, Radhesham Hawlader, Devsai Toppo, Soma Dey, and Mirthunjoy Das, conducted a raid on October 22, 2023. The operation was executed under the watchful supervision of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DANIPS), SDPO Diglipur.
During the operation, a suspect individual was intercepted and subjected to a thorough search. This search led to the discovery of a transparent polythene sachet containing crystalline powder and a shiny glass-like substance. A small quantity of this substance was tested using a drug detection kit, which confirmed the presence of Methamphetamine. The weight of the recovered sachet was found to be 2.26 grams, excluding the weight of the polythene packaging. The individual in possession of these illicit substances was identified as Rishab Mistry, an 18-year-old resident of Subashgram. He was promptly arrested, and a case was registered against him under the NDPS Act.
Further investigation into the case led to the arrest of a co-accused, Pijus Das, a resident of R.K Gram. During this phase of the operation, an additional 0.51 grams of Methamphetamine was recovered. Both individuals were arrested, and all legal formalities were followed in the process.
This operation was conducted under the overall direction and supervision of Mrs. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police for North & Middle Andaman District.
