In a major breakthrough for local law enforcement, over 4 kilograms of Methamphetamine were seized from a residence in Kinyuka Village, Car Nicobar on 5th October 2024, following a meticulously planned raid led by Inspector D. Jagdishwar Rao, Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Car Nicobar.
Acting on a credible tip-off, Inspector Rao was informed that a substantial quantity of Methamphetamine was being stored at the home of a local resident in Kinyuka Village. The information was swiftly communicated to Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Solomon Samuel via a secret note. The message was also recorded in the police station’s general diary for official documentation.
A specialised raiding team was immediately formed under the direction of SDPO Solomon Samuel. The team included Inspector Rao, SI JR Krishna, and several constables equipped with a drug detection kit and an electronic weighing machine.
The raiding team arrived at the target location, where they met two locals who were asked to serve as independent witnesses during the operation. Upon confirming the house of interest, the police team approached the residence, where they met the homeowner, identified as Rose Lily, wife of James.
Rose Lily was informed of the police’s intention to search her home based on the tip-off regarding stored contraband.
During the search of the house’s godown area, four packets containing a white crystalline substance were discovered. Upon testing with the drug detection kit, the substance was confirmed to be Methamphetamine. The packets were marked and weighed on-site, revealing the following:
– Packet I: 1.058 kg of Methamphetamine
– Packet II: 1.055 kg of Methamphetamine
– Packet III: 1.022 kg of Methamphetamine
– Packet IV: 0.907 kg of Methamphetamine
The total quantity of the seized contraband amounted to 4.042 kilograms. The drugs were securely packaged and sealed with a brass seal in the presence of the witnesses and the accused. The entire operation was documented with photographs and video footage.
Rose Lily was arrested under Section 22(c) of the NDPS Act of 1985. The seized drugs and related evidence were transported to the Car Nicobar police station, where they were handed over to the officer in charge for further proceedings.
Upon questioning, Rose Lily admitted that she had found the contraband on the Kinyuka seashore and was aware of its high market value. She had allegedly been seeking a buyer to sell the drugs at a lucrative price.
