Man Found Hanging Near Garacharma Junction; Police Seek Help to Trace Family

A 42-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after being found hanging near Garacharma Junction, opposite Bipasha Tiles shop, in the early hours of Tuesday. Police received information about the incident at around 4 am and rushed to the spot, where the man was found hanging. The body was later shifted for necessary legal formalities.

As per available medical records, the deceased has been identified as Shiva Raj. However, the name of his father and his permanent address could not be ascertained. During preliminary enquiries, local residents informed the police that the deceased had been living in the Garacharma area for nearly ten years, moving from place to place without a permanent residence. He reportedly had no known family members in the locality. Some residents also stated that he may have earlier stayed in the Kalighat area.

An Unnatural Death (UD) case bearing FIR No. 13/26 dated February 17, 2026, under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, has been registered at Pahargaon Police Station. Further investigation is underway.

Police described the deceased as approximately 42 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches in height, thin built, and wheatish in complexion. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a white, green and black lined T-shirt and light blue full-length jeans. He had a black mole on the left side of his neck as an identification mark.
