In a swift and commendable operation, the Ograbraj Police successfully solved a blind theft case within eleven days, recovering gold ornaments worth over ₹4 lakh.
The case came to light on 2 October 2025 when Mr. B. Gurumurthy of Namunaghar reported to Police Station Ograbraj that he found the main door lock of his house broken and a small bag containing gold and silver ornaments missing after returning from a religious function. The stolen items included several gold earrings, a chain, a finger ring, and an ear chain (Matti).
A special team, led by Inspector Stalin N.S., SHO PS Ograbraj, along with ASI P. Vinodh (I.O), HCs S. Yamant Rao, Ashok Roy, Nelson, and PCs Rajdhari Yadav, Abubacker Sidique, Rohan Lall, V.M. Shahid, Shahir, Sunita, and Richa Chand, was constituted to investigate the theft.
Through extensive field inquiries, verification of habitual offenders, and tapping local intelligence sources, the team identified a suspect seen near the complainant’s house at the time of the crime. The suspect was apprehended from Junglighat on 13 October 2025. During interrogation, he confessed to breaking the door lock with a stone, stealing the ornaments, and pledging them at Muthoot Fincorp, Junglighat, for ₹2,56,000.
Following the confession, the police recovered all the pledged items, including three pairs of earrings, one gold chain, one pair of matti, and one gold ring. The recovered property was taken into custody in the presence of independent witnesses, following all legal formalities.
The accused was produced before the Hon’ble Court on 14 October 2025 and remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of Inspector Stalin N.S., SHO PS Ograbraj, and under the supervision of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Bambooflat.
