Mr.  Mandeep Grewal, Founder and President of Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi, met the Hon’ble Union Home Minister, Mr. Amit Shah, during his recent visit to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands at Lok Niwas, Sri Vijaya Puram.

During the meeting, Mr. Grewal expressed gratitude to the Union Home Minister for acceding to the long-pending demand for the establishment of an Old Age Home for Women in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He said the initiative would provide dignity, care, and security to elderly women, particularly those who are destitute or without family support, and would have a positive and lasting social impact on the islands.

Mr. Grewal also highlighted several other social issues affecting the islands. He drew attention to the growing problem of substance abuse and urged the establishment of a Rehabilitation and De-addiction Centre to support affected youth and vulnerable sections of society. Emphasising the importance of constructive engagement for young people, he further requested the development of Youth Recreational Centres across the islands to promote sports, fitness, skill development, and healthy lifestyles.

The Union Home Minister patiently heard the representations and assured that the suggestions would be examined sympathetically in the larger interest of the people of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Reiterating his commitment, Mr. Grewal stated that Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi would continue its grassroots efforts towards social welfare, humanitarian service, and inclusive development of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
