As part of the nationwide commemoration of 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’, the Directorate of Art & Culture, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, will organize a mass singing of the full version of the patriotic song at 9.50 am today in the Auditorium of Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE).
Ms. Chanchal Yadav, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Art & Culture), A&N Administration, will grace the occasion as the chief guest.
The year-long celebration, an initiative of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, aims to honour the spirit and historical significance of Vande Mataram—a song that embodies the collective consciousness of India. It was the rallying cry for freedom fighters during the country’s struggle for independence.
On October 1, the Union Cabinet approved nationwide celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, to inspire citizens—particularly youth and students—to reconnect with the song’s original revolutionary spirit. The initiative also seeks to ensure that its timeless message continues to resonate in the hearts of future generations.
All citizens have been urged to participate and be part of this historic occasion.
