In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into a narcotics case, the Central Crime Station of Andaman and Nicobar Police has apprehended the mastermind and co-accused involved in the importation of 7.220 kilograms of ganja. The arrest, which took place on September 25, 2023, sheds light on the intricate web of drug trafficking operating in the region.
The case initially came to the attention of law enforcement when one Dipa Roy, wife of Mr. Bijoy Biswas, residing in Bera Beria, Barasat, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, was found in possession of a substantial quantity of ganja. Ms. Roy had reportedly brought the illegal substance from Kolkata, West Bengal, via a flight on September 25, 2023.
Further investigation by the Central Crime Station team led to the identification and subsequent arrest of Mrs. Reena Biswas, wife of Mr. Kalipada Biswas, aged 45 and residing near Royal Colony in Dollygunj, in connection with the case. She is believed to be the mastermind behind the drug operation.
Both arrested individuals were promptly produced before the court, which subsequently remanded them to judicial custody. Authorities are currently intensifying their efforts to unravel any potential involvement of other co-accused in connection with this illicit drug trade.
