A resident of Tugapur -06, Mayabunder, has filed a complaint with the Station House Officer of the Mayabunder Police Station regarding a fraudulent lottery scheme that has resulted in the loss of a substantial amount of money.

KBC Lottery Scam has been used to defraud thousands of victims throughout the country. The scam has been around for a long period of time.

In her complaint letter addressed to the SHO, the victim detailed the events leading up to her financial loss. According to her account, she received a WhatsApp call from a number on December 6, 2023, informing her that she had won a KBC lottery prize of Rs. 25,00,000 (twenty-five lakhs rupees). Believing the call to be genuine, she followed the instructions given by the caller, which included saving a number and providing personal information such as her bank account details, photo, and Aadhaar card.

Subsequently, the victim was instructed to deposit various sums of money into different bank accounts under the guise of processing fees and taxes related to the lottery winnings. Over a period of several days, she deposited a sum of INR 3,57,000/- (Indian Rupees Three Lakh Fifty Seven Thousand) in 14 different bank transactions into multiple accounts as demanded by the fraudsters.

Despite these substantial deposits, the victim did not receive the promised lottery winnings, leading her to suspect that she has fallen victim to a fraudulent scheme. She expressed deep regret over her belief in the scam and lamented the financial burden it has placed on her and her family, stating that as a poor individual, she is unable to bear such a loss.

The victim has urged the authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and take appropriate action to apprehend the perpetrators behind the fraudulent scheme.
