A crucial meeting was convened by Chief Electoral Officer (i/c) of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kale Amit Marutirao, IAS, on 29th October at the Conference Hall of SVPMC. The meeting included representatives from all recognized political parties and media personnel to discuss the Special Summary Revision of the Photo Electoral Roll for 2025, along with the publication of the Integrated Draft Electoral Roll.

The Deputy CEO, Mr. Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, and other electoral officers were also in attendance.

During the meeting, Mr. Marutirao announced that the Draft Electoral Roll was officially published on 29th October 2024. The period for claims and objections is set to run from 29th October to 28th November 2024. Special campaigns will be conducted across all 411 polling stations on 9th, 10th, 23rd, and 24th November 2024. Claims and objections will be disposed of by 24th December 2024, while health parameter checks, database updates, and the printing of supplements are scheduled for completion by 1st January 2025. The final publication of the electoral roll is expected on 6th January 2025.

According to the Draft Electoral Roll for 2025, there are currently 312,247 electors, comprising 162,081 male voters, 150,163 female voters, and 3 voters from the third gender. The gender ratio stands at 926, and EP Ratio stands at 721. The percentage of Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) coverage is an impressive 99.39%, with a total of 411 polling stations.

Mr. Marutirao urged political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) for each polling station. These agents will work closely with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) during the revision period to identify any eligible voters who may have been missed, facilitate updates on voters’ residential addresses, and encourage citizens reaching the age of eighteen by upcoming qualifying dates to apply for inclusion in the electoral rolls.

The Draft Electoral Roll 2025 was shared with the participating political parties, who also took the opportunity to raise suggestions and clarify their doubts during the meeting.
