Mega Protest, Chakka Jam and Bandh in Campbell Bay from Monday Under Leadership of Ex-PRI’s

Port Blair, Nov 20 2020

Nicobar Times had earlier reported that the Ex-PRI members of Campbell Bay will lead Protests, Chakka Jam and Bandh  in the Island if their demands are not met by this Friday. The Ex-PRI’s have now confirmed that, they were told earlier by the officers of the Administration that they will be called on Friday and the Administration will give it to them in writing on the fulfilment of their demands, but nothing of that sort happened.

The Ex-PRI’s have informed Nicobar Times that they have started the arrangements for the Protest, Chakka Jam and Bandh in the Island from Monday and all the associations are with them and they will stage a complete indefinite protest, bandh and chakka jam until the time their demands are met in letter and spirit.

Earlier the Ex-PRI’s of Campbell Bay had written a joint letter to the Chief Secretary listing their demands for immediate perusal and fulfilment. They had also mentioned that they will stage protests, bandh and chakka jam if their demands are not met in a week’s time.

Campbell Bay recently saw another protest earlier this week by the fishermen community and the general pubic, which did not bear any fruitful results, but was called off after written assurance from the Assistant Commissioner. The general public of Campbell Bay were not happy with the way the protests were called off, without any fruitful results and hence the Ex-PRI’s have decided that this time around the protests will not be called off until and unless the demands are met in letter and spirit.

Campbell Bay will witness another big protest day on Monday under the leadership of the Ex-PRI’s irrespective of their party cadre.
