In a bid to enhance visitor experience and accessibility, Member of Parliament Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has called upon the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration for construction of changing rooms and toilet blocks at Shoal Bay-19 Beach.
The beach, steadily gaining popularity among residents, draws a significant influx of visitors during holidays and weekends seeking to revel in nature’s beauty and leisure activities. However, the absence of essential facilities, particularly changing rooms and toilets, has posed an inconvenience, especially for women and girls, highlighted Mr. Sharma in his letter addressed to the Chief Secretary.
“Shoal Bay-19 Beach holds immense potential to cater to the recreational needs of our residents, yet the absence of basic amenities inhibits its accessibility, especially for women, discouraging many from fully enjoying this picturesque destination,” remarked Mr. Sharma.
Emphasising the significance of these facilities, Mr. Sharma stressed their pivotal role in not just augmenting the visitor experience but also stimulating economic growth in the area. “The provision of these amenities will not only enhance the overall visitor experience but will also foster increased employment opportunities and bolster local businesses,” he added.
Underscoring the economic potential of a popular beach, the Member of Parliament highlighted the consequential benefits for the local community. He urged swift action from the administration to initiate the construction of changing rooms and toilet blocks, envisioning a positive impact on both tourism and the lives of residents.
