MERAKI ’24: ANIIMS Celebrates Annual Sports & Cultural Fest with Vibrant Performances and Spirited Competitions

The energy, creativity, and exceptional talent of ANIIMS students shone brightly at the concluding ceremony of MERAKI ‘24, the Annual Sports & Cultural Fest of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS). Held at the picturesque Corbyn’s Cove campus, the event was a resounding success, marked by captivating choreography and electrifying performances.

The Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, honoured the valedictory function as the chief guest. He was joined by ANIIMS Director Dr. Pragya Sharma, esteemed doctors from G.B. Pant Hospital, faculty members, and an enthusiastic gathering of students.

The hilltop campus was transformed into a regal arena, where dignitaries and students enjoyed a rich array of performances, including songs and dances. The valedictory function kicked off with a solo group song by students, setting the stage for ‘Taal Tarang,’ a series of solo classical dances, and ‘Tempo Thrill,’ an exhilarating solo Western dance performance.

MERAKI ‘24, spanning from May 14 to May 18, was a vibrant blend of sports and cultural events. Students eagerly participated in various sports competitions, such as basketball, football, table tennis, badminton, and cricket, showcasing their athletic prowess and sportsmanship. The Chief Secretary awarded prizes to the winners and runners-up, celebrating their achievements and fostering a spirit of camaraderie and pride.

The culmination of the five-day fest featured dynamic dance performances, further enhancing the sense of unity among the students. MERAKI ‘24 provided a valuable platform for students to express their talents and creativity, highlighting the diverse skills inherent within the ANIIMS community.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from the Students’ Council President, Mr. Vicky Mishra, who expressed gratitude to all participants, organisers, and guests for making MERAKI ‘24 a memorable and inspiring event.
