The Middle Andaman Forest Division, Rangat, marked the 76th Van Mahotsav – a month-long tree plantation festival – with great enthusiasm and a strong commitment to forest conservation across the islands.

As part of the nationwide campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, the Division organized a tree planting programme at the premises of Government Secondary School, Nimbutala. The event witnessed active participation from around 150 individuals, including school students, teachers, PRI members, and local Heads of Offices.

The programme commenced with an inaugural function, followed by a mass tree plantation activity. A cultural segment added vibrancy to the occasion, featuring a welcome song by the students of GSS Nimbutala and a mime act performed by the staff and workers of Bakultala Range. The mime emphasized the vital role of forests and the adverse impacts of deforestation.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Siva Shakthi. B, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Middle Andaman Division, underscored the importance of forests and urged everyone to contribute to conservation efforts without compromising natural resources.

The event served as a reminder of the community’s role in preserving the rich green cover of the islands for future generations.
