The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands has revised the Minimum Rates of Wages across six Schedules of Employments, in addition to Government Departments, Offices and Industrial Establishments, with effect from January 1, 2026.

The revision has been carried out by taking into account the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) based on the average rise in the All-India Consumer Price Index, as mandated under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 in the Union Territory.

As notified, the revised minimum daily wage rates are as follows:

  • Unskilled: ₹652.00 per day
  • Semi-Skilled/Unskilled Supervisory: ₹733.00 per day
  • Skilled/Clerical: ₹856.00 per day
  • Highly Skilled: ₹939.00 per day

The order on revised minimum wages can be downloaded from the Labour Department website. All employers have been asked to comply with the revised rates, failing which punitive action will be initiated as per the provisions of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 and Rules framed thereunder, and subsequently under the Code on Wages, 2019 upon its implementation.
