The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has launched the National Overseas Scholarship (NOS) scheme aimed at empowering students from disadvantaged sections of society through access to higher education abroad.

The initiative seeks to provide financial support to low-income students belonging to Scheduled Castes, De-Notified Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, Landless Agricultural Labourers, and Traditional Artisans. Under the scheme, selected students can pursue Master’s or Ph.D. degrees at universities ranked among the top 500 in the QS World University Rankings.

Applications for the scheme can be submitted online through the official portal http://nosmsje.gov.in by April 27, 2025. Detailed eligibility criteria and other relevant information are available on the scheme’s portal.

The scheme is part of the government’s broader efforts to promote educational empowerment and socio-economic development among historically disadvantaged communities. (Story Based on PR)
