Billiground police successfully located a missing minor girl and apprehended the accused within 24 hours of receiving the report, demonstrating swift and coordinated action.

The minor girl, reported missing on the night of 17th November 2024, was traced following a complaint lodged at PS Billiground on 18th November 2024. Sub-Inspector M.V. Shiju Kumar, SHO PS Billiground, promptly formed a team comprising ASI Diana, ASI (IRBn.) Rajini Babu, HCs Amrita Bawali and Pradeep Kr. Kindo, and PCs Mohd. Mustafa, Grick Charles, and Abhijeet Mondal to address the case.

Leveraging advanced tools such as live location tracking and Call Detail Records (CDR), the team identified a potential lead. The accused was located in Laxmipur area at Diglipur. Information was relayed to SHO PS Diglipur Inspector Vijay Kumar, who mobilised his team, including HC Sanjit Madhu and LPC Soma, to assist in the operation.

The collaborative efforts led to the discovery of the missing girl in a sheltered house. However, the accused, who had allegedly lured the minor to Laxmipur, attempted to evade capture by fleeing into the nearby forest.

Undeterred, the police launched a large-scale overnight operation, cordoning off the jungle and intensifying the search. The accused was apprehended, and the girl was safely reunited with her family.

The successful operation was carried out under the vigilant supervision of Mr. Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS, SDPO Rangat, and Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District.
