A mock drill on fire accident was conducted at Sea Shell Resort, Marine Hill, on 22nd February 2023, by the Directorate of Disaster Management in coordination with A & N Police, A & N Police Fire Services, Directorate of Health Services and NDRF.
The drill was conducted by creating real time fire simulation scenarios and the preparedness level of the resort was tested.
The response of all Emergency Support Functionaries (ESFs) on safe evacuation, search & rescue, fire extinguishing operations, first aid and medical support to manage the fire incident scenario in the resort was also tested.
Director (DM), A & N Administration, Dr. Nitin Shakya monitored the mock drill alongwith SDPO (SA), Mr. Sunny Gupta, IPS, Asst. Director(s), Mr. T K S Ajayan, Mr. Gyan Singh, Mr. Janik Ram, and Sr. Consultant, DDM, Dr. Swapan Kumar Biswas. The mock drill was followed by a debriefing session during which the observations, findings and gaps noticed during the Mock Drill were explained.
The Director (DM) appreciated the efforts of the resort management and other stakeholders for their active participation in the mock drill. He also urged the resort management to regularly check all the fire extinguishers and safety equipments. He also urged them to update their SOP, emergency contact details and provide Disaster Management training to the resort personnel for their capacity building to cope with any crisis in future.
