Mr. Vinod raised the issue of High Air Fares in the Island-Mainland Sector before the Union Civil Aviation Minister. He explained that due to the high airfares, the Islanders are facing a lot of problems. He also added that tourism is badly affected because of the exorbitant airfares in all sectors connecting Island and Mainland.

He also explained to the Union Civil Aviation Minister that the Islanders depend on hospitals in the mainland for specialized medical treatment and care due to a lack of adequate infrastructure and human resources in the Islands. He added that many sick Islanders are unable to travel to the mainland due to the non-availability of oxygen cylinders on aircrafts.

Mr. Vinod also raised the issue of exorbitant fares for the transportation of stretcher patients in the Island-Mainland Sector. He informed that the present cost of transportation for a stretcher patient ranges from Rs. 1.5 Lakhs to Rs. 2 Lakhs.
