Private Bus Stand, Mohanpura which is the starting point for all private buses operating in Port Blair and nearby areas, is in shambles. The Parking of the bus stand was damaged long back and no attempt has been made to repair it.
Andaman and Nicobar Private Bus Owner’s Association had written a letter to the Chairperson, PBMC informing her of the deplorable condition of the Private Bus Stand in July 2022. The Association in their letter had informed that the maintenance expenses of the buses have increased because of the condition of the parking area of the bus stand.
The Association also informed the Chairperson that there is a lack of basic amenities at the Private Bus Stand.
The commuters who travel by bus are also suffering because of the lack of basic amenities at the premises of the bus stand.
The STS Bus Terminus located just a few hundred meters from the Private Bus Stand has appreciable amenities. The waiting area of the STS Bus Terminus is air conditioned and a cafeteria is also available for the passengers.
Proper maintenance of the Private Bus Stand should be ensured for the convenience of the passengers and bus operators.
