The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, successfully organized the “Monsoon Road Race – 5 Km Run” in the early hours of July 13, 2025. The event, aimed at promoting the spirit of “Fitness for All,” saw an enthusiastic turnout of over 200 participants, including school and college students, members of various organizations, and the general public.
The run was flagged off at 5:30 AM from Netaji Stadium by Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, Chief Secretary of the A&N Administration, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The route extended from Netaji Stadium to Mazar Pahad and back to the stadium, serving as both the starting and finishing point.
In the Women’s (Open) category, Ms. P. Alaggamal (SAI) clinched the first position, followed by Ms. Jasmin Ram (SAI) in second and Ms. Vinita Lakra (Govt. S.S. Calicut) in third. In the Men’s (Open) category, Mr. N. Eswaran (Bird Line) secured the top spot, while Mr. Pintu Ram (PM Shri GSSS Prothrapur) and Mr. P. Sasi Kiran (SAI) bagged the second and third positions respectively.
The Chief Guest presented gold, silver, and bronze medals along with individual trophies to the winners, recognizing their exceptional performances.
A special highlight of the event was the participation of children in the 6–7 years age group, who successfully completed the run and were awarded consolation prizes by the Chief Guest in acknowledgment of their enthusiasm and effort.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Vikram Singh, Director (Sports), Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs.
