Preparations are underway for the much-anticipated ‘Monsoon Tourism Festival-2024’ at Corbyn’s Cove, promising a spectacular showcase of Andaman’s allure even during the rainy season. Organized by the Tourism Department in collaboration with key stakeholders, the festival, themed #rhythmoftherains, aims to promote the Andaman Islands as a year-round tourist destination.
The festivities kick off with a vibrant Road Show on July 12, 2024, followed by two days of celebrations on July 13th and 14th at Corbyn’s Cove, from 3 pm to 9 pm daily. A recent review meeting chaired by Special Secretary Ms. Nandini Maharaj, IAS, ensured all arrangements are on track with the active participation of various departments and tourism stakeholders. Directors Mr. Azharuddin Zahiruddin Qazi, IAS, and Ms. Anuja Trivedi, IAS (P) also lent their support to ensure a smooth execution of the event.
Highlighting the festival’s attractions, visitors can look forward to engaging activities such as a Water Sports Demonstration showcasing the island’s adventurous spirit, and a spirited Tug-of-War Competition fostering community camaraderie. The ‘Rain Dance Arena’ promises an interactive experience where attendees can revel in the monsoon showers accompanied by lively music, while the ‘Beach Volleyball Arena’ offers thrilling matches on the sandy shores.
Cultural enthusiasts will be treated to captivating live performances of music and dance throughout the festival, complemented by a variety of food stalls offering delectable seafood and barbecue delights. This diverse lineup aims to showcase that beaches are not just for water sports but offer year-round entertainment options for all.
Additionally, cultural programs will grace the ‘Marina Park Arena’ each evening from July 12th to 14th, ensuring entertainment for tourists and islanders alike beyond Corbyn’s Cove.
With its blend of adventure, culture, and culinary delights, the ‘Monsoon Tourism Festival-2024’ promises an unforgettable experience, inviting all to discover the magic of the Andaman Islands throughout the year.
