Month-Long Tailoring and Garment Making Training Launched to Empower Tribal Women in Campbell Bay

The Directorate of Industries, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, inaugurated a month-long training programme on “Tailoring and Garment Making” at Rajiv Nagar, Campbell Bay, aiming to empower tribal women through skill development and promote socio-economic progress within the community. A total of 25 tribal women have enrolled in the initiative.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries including Mr. Barnabus Manju, Chief Tribal Captain of Great & Little Nicobar Islands, and Dr. Singh Keshav Narendra, Assistant Commissioner of Campbell Bay. Also present were Mr. Shekhar Rai, Block Development Officer (CD Block, Campbell Bay), Mr. S. Dinesh Kumar, Industries Promotion Officer, and Mr. Anujesh Rai, Tribal Welfare Officer, Campbell Bay.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Barnabus Manju expressed gratitude to the Directorate of Industries and local administration for organizing the training programme, underscoring its vital role in uplifting the tribal community. Dr. Singh Keshav Narendra emphasized the importance of skill development in fostering economic independence among tribal women and urged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity.

Highlighting the significance of sustainable self-employment skills, Mr. Shekhar Rai encouraged the trainees to stay committed throughout the course. Mr. Anujesh Rai reiterated that such initiatives are key to achieving economic empowerment and steady employment for tribal women.

Concluding the event, Mr. S. Dinesh Kumar delivered the vote of thanks and motivated participants to take maximum benefit out of the programme.
