In a significant move to bolster Pre-Kharif preparedness, the Department of Agriculture, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, has launched a series of proactive initiatives to support the farming community. As part of this effort, agricultural inputs are being distributed through the Agriculture Sub-Depots across all zones of the islands.
One of the key inputs, Muriate of Potash (MoP), is now available in sufficient quantities at all Sub-Depots. The department has announced that MoP is being provided to farmers at a subsidized rate of ₹627.50 per 50 kg bag, inclusive of 5% GST.
Farmers and stakeholders across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been urged to procure their required stock of MoP for the upcoming Kharif season by June 7, 2025. To ensure accessibility and timely distribution, the Agriculture Sub-Depots will remain open four days a week — Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday — from May 19 to June 7, 2025.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening agricultural productivity and ensuring that the farming community is well-equipped for the cropping season.
