MoPR Felicitates Two Pradhans from A&N Islands for Exemplary Leadership & Holistic Developments of Gram Panchayats

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR), Government of India, honoured two Panchayat Pradhans from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for their outstanding contributions to grassroots development during a special felicitation ceremony held on the eve of Independence Day 2025.

Mr. T. Yaghambaram, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Calicut, and Ms. Pratima Roy, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Nabagram, received national recognition for their exemplary leadership and holistic development initiatives in their respective panchayats.

The awards were presented by Union Minister of Panchayati Raj, Mr. Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, at a ceremony organised by the Ministry at the Airport Authority of India Officers’ Institute, New Delhi.

The recognition underscores the role of Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) leaders from the Islands in promoting community-led development, empowering women in governance, and strengthening democratic values at the grassroots level.

Congratulating the awardees, the Directorate of RD, PRIs and ULBs commended their dedication and commitment to the upliftment of rural communities in the Union Territory. (Stories Based on PR)
