South Andaman residents are facing another round of inconvenience as the Electricity Department has declared two hours of rotational load shedding in the region. The move comes in response to a forced outage of 5 MW Private DG sets, leading to severe power shortages in the district.

For an extended period, the power situation in the area has been in a deplorable state, with frequent power cuts disrupting daily life for residents. The latest announcement by the Electricity Department has further added to their woes.

The department has highlighted the issue to the general public and government authorities, attributing the reduced power availability to the forced outage of 5 MW DG sets operated by M/s. NVVN Aggreko Power Plant. In an effort to alleviate the power shortfall until the rectification of the 5 MW DG sets, the Electricity Department has decided to implement rotational load shedding, which will lead to a two-hour power cut in and around Port Blair and South Andaman area.

Officials are currently working to restore the operation of the affected 5 MW M/s. NVVN Aggreko Power Plant as quickly as possible. However, until a resolution is achieved, the residents are urged to cooperate by conserving and regulating their electricity consumption.

In response to the announcement, local residents have expressed their frustration with the persistent power issues, citing the adverse impact on daily activities, businesses, and essential services. Many are hopeful that the Electricity Department will resolve the situation promptly and minimise the inconvenience caused by load shedding.

Electricity Department has encouraged the residents to adopt energy-efficient practices and judiciously use electricity to mitigate the effects of the rotational load shedding.

As the Electricity Department continues to address the power crisis, residents of South Andaman remain hopeful for a swift resolution that will bring an end to their prolonged struggles with power cuts and inconveniences.
