In a bid to enhance the convenience and planning capabilities of Car Nicobar Island residents, government servants, and passengers, Member of Parliament Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has strongly urged for release of ship schedules 15 days in advance for Car Nicobar Island. The request, directed at the Chief Secretary, aims to provide a significant boost to the island’s connectivity and transport planning.
The recent successful berthing of Nalanda at Car Nicobar has ignited fresh optimism among the residents of the Island. Recognising the importance of this development, Member of Parliament Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma penned a letter to the Chief Secretary, advocating for the release of ship schedules at least fifteen days in advance. Such a move, he emphasised, would greatly benefit the island’s residents and travellers by offering them improved efficiency and peace of mind when making travel arrangements.
Highlighting the commendable practices of the Directorate of Shipping Services, which routinely releases ship schedules well in advance for destinations like Little Andaman, Nancowry Group of Islands, and Great Nicobar Island, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma emphasised the need to extend this practice to include Car Nicobar Island. A fifteen-day advanced schedule release for Car Nicobar Island, he contends, would prove to be an invaluable gift for the island’s population, including government servants and the general public.
