Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, felicitated the National Sqay Martial Art players of ISMAA—affiliated with the Sqay Martial Art Federation Bharat—who brought laurels to the Islands with an exceptional medal haul at the 4th National Sqay Martial Art Championship held in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
The squad delivered an outstanding performance, securing 66 Gold, 8 Silver, and 2 Bronze medals, marking one of the Islands’ strongest showings in the national championship. Their success was further elevated as the team clinched the Overall All-India 2nd Position Trophy, along with two Champion of Champions trophies, underscoring their skill, discipline, and unwavering dedication to the sport.
Congratulating the athletes, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray praised their hard work and celebrated their achievements. He also appreciated the relentless efforts of Dr. M.D. Selvam, Chief Coach and Grand Master of the World Sqay Martial Association, acknowledging his over 35 years of voluntary service in nurturing martial arts talent across the Islands.
The MP expressed confidence that the young players will continue to shine in future competitions, bringing further pride to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and the nation. He encouraged the athletes to uphold their spirit of excellence and continue representing the Islands with honour and distinction.
