Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray on Sunday interacted with residents living in forest encroachment pockets across various locations in Diglipur Tehsil, who have been seeking permanent settlement through legalization and creation of occupancy rights.
During the interaction, villagers placed their long-pending grievances before the MP, stating that they have been residing in the forest areas for the past 30 to 40 years without access to basic amenities and essential services. They appealed for his intervention to ensure a just and humane resolution of their demands.
The MP patiently heard the concerns of the residents and assured them that he would take up the matter with the appropriate authorities in the Government for positive and sympathetic consideration. He emphasized the need to address the issue in a lawful manner while safeguarding the interests of the people who have been living in the area for decades.
Mr. Ray further stated that the matter would be pursued keeping in view the suggestions and guidance of Mr. Mohan Bhagwat, Chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, highlighting the importance of arriving at a balanced solution for settlement in border areas in the larger interest of national security.
The interaction was part of the MP’s continued outreach to understand and address public grievances in remote regions of the constituency.
