Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament from Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has expressed his gratitude to Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Mr. Nitin Gadkari, for sanctioning 90 works worth ₹49.98 crore under Phase-I of the Central Road Fund (CRF). The approval was granted on 28 August 2024.
According to Mr. Ray, the sanction has brought “immense relief and hope” to the people of the Islands, fulfilling the commitment made by Mr. Gadkari during his visit to the Union Territory on 28 December 2024.
The MP further informed that the Andaman & Nicobar Administration has already submitted proposals for Phase-II, comprising 40 works valued at ₹113.29 crore, to the Ministry on 11 September 2025. Given the Union Territory’s limited budgetary resources, he urged the Union Minister to consider the proposals and grant both financial sanction and administrative approval at the earliest.
Highlighting the significance of the second phase, Mr. Ray said that timely sanction would address the long-pending connectivity and infrastructure requirements of the islanders. He reiterated his appreciation for Mr. Gadkari’s “continued support and commitment” towards the development and welfare of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
