Hon’ble Member of Parliament from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, has urged the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to expedite the submission of a long-pending proposal to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for the revision of salaries of MGNREGA employees working under the Rural Development Department.

Drawing attention to the issue, the MP stated that the MHA, while examining the proposal for salary revision of MGNREGA (VB-G RAM G) employees, had sought certain clarifications and additional information from the A&N Administration through a letter dated November 11, 2025. However, the required details are yet to be furnished, resulting in a delay in finalising the proposal.

Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray pointed out that the matter has remained pending since November 2025 due to procedural delays and movement of files at various levels. He noted that the prolonged delay has caused hardship and growing concern among the employees, who have been rendering their services to the Administration with dedication and sincerity.

Emphasising the importance of timely resolution, the MP observed that such delays adversely affect employee morale and can also impact the overall efficiency of administrative functioning. He expressed hope that the Administration would take swift action to resolve the issue.

The MP has formally requested the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to intervene and ensure that the pending clarifications and proposal are submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs at the earliest, enabling the long-awaited salary revision to be finalised without further delay.

Reiterating his commitment to the welfare of MGNREGA employees, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray expressed confidence that the Administration would act promptly and compassionately in the interest of fairness and justice.
