Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has urged the Chief Secretary of the A&N Administration, to reschedule the upcoming college counseling dates to avoid overlap and ensure fair opportunities for all students.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, Mr. Ray conveyed serious concerns raised by parents and students regarding the simultaneous scheduling of counseling sessions for admission to JNRM, DIET (JBT), and professional courses under the Administration Quota in mainland colleges — all currently slated for July 28, 2025.
The MP highlighted that many students have applied for multiple courses based on their eligibility and interest. With all counseling sessions being held on the same day, it would be practically impossible for students to attend more than one, thereby risking the loss of valuable admission opportunities.
Calling for urgent corrective action, Mr. Ray requested that the counseling sessions be rescheduled in a staggered manner to prevent overlap. He emphasized that such a move would uphold the principles of transparency and equal opportunity, and would significantly benefit the student community across the Islands.
He further stated that adjusting the dates would not only ease logistical challenges for students and parents but also reflect the administration’s commitment to supporting the educational aspirations of young islanders.
