Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has urged the Andaman & Nicobar Administration to install centralised air-conditioning systems in all inpatient wards of GB Pant Hospital, citing severe discomfort faced by patients due to inadequate cooling and ventilation.

During his recent visits to the hospital, Mr. Ray personally witnessed the distress of patients in various wards, particularly during the humid summer months. He observed that ceiling fans alone were insufficient to counter the heat, leading to excessive sweating and discomfort among inpatients, which he said could adversely affect their recovery.

In a formal letter addressed to the Chief Secretary on July 1, 2025, the Member of Parliament strongly recommended the installation of centralised AC units to ensure a hygienic and comfortable environment for patients. He underscored that a cool and dignified setting is essential to the healing process and forms a core component of quality healthcare.

Mr. Ray has called for immediate intervention by the Administration to upgrade the existing infrastructure at the hospital, emphasizing the need for swift action to safeguard the health and dignity of patients admitted to the premier government healthcare facility in the islands.
