Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, chaired the District Level Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting at the DBRAIT Conference Hall. The meeting saw active participation from officials of the A&N Administration and key representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs).
The DISHA meetings, mandated by the Government of India, are conducted regularly to update the Hon’ble Member of Parliament on the progress of various schemes in their constituencies.
During the session, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray conducted a comprehensive review of the Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) implemented in the Islands. He underscored the critical need for effective execution of these schemes to maximise their benefits for the public. Department representatives delivered detailed presentations, highlighting the current status of schemes, challenges encountered, and strategies to enhance their impact.
In response, Mr. Ray offered insightful observations and actionable recommendations to tackle obstacles and improve scheme implementation. He emphasised the establishment of robust monitoring mechanisms to ensure the schemes effectively reach intended beneficiaries and significantly contribute to the socio-economic development of the Islands.
The Hon’ble MP also called for greater community participation in the implementation process, advocating for inclusivity to make the schemes more effective and sustainable.
Concluding the meeting, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their commitment and urged them to collaborate in overcoming the unique challenges posed by the Islands’ geographical remoteness. He reiterated the importance of collective effort in driving development and improving the quality of life for the people of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
