A Public Grievances Hearing Camp was organised at the Community Hall in Sippighat on March 7, 2026, providing residents of Sippighat and Calicut Gram Panchayats an opportunity to present their grievances directly before the district administration.
The camp was attended by Member of Parliament Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman) Purva Garg, IAS, Adhyaksh of Zilla Parishad (South Andaman) Mr. Prakash Adhikari, Chief Engineer of APWD, the Pradhans of Calicut and Sippighat Gram Panchayats, along with other PRI members and officials from various departments.
During the camp, villagers raised several local issues and concerns before the authorities. Officials present from different departments heard the grievances and addressed several of them on the spot. The Deputy Commissioner also issued directions to the concerned departments to resolve the remaining issues on priority and ensure timely action.
Prior to the commencement of the grievances hearing, the Deputy Commissioner visited key public facilities in Sippighat Gram Panchayat, including the PM SHRI School, Anganwadi Centre, Health Sub-Centre, and the ongoing water supply project, to review their functioning and assess the progress of development works in the area.
The camp witnessed active participation from villagers and served as a platform to strengthen communication between the administration and the public.
Earlier in the morning, a community yoga session was organised at the same venue from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. by the District Health Society to promote health and wellness. The programme saw participation from villagers, school students and local representatives. The Deputy Commissioner, the Pradhan and students also took part in the yoga session.
