Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has written to the Lt. Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands demanding the construction of a Fish Landing Jetty in the Khadi Basthi Area of Baratang Island.

In his letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament informed that the fishermen of Baratang Island have been facing difficulties due to the absence of a fish landing jetty at Khadi Basthi area of Oralkatcha Village.

He informed that the lack of fish landing jetty is posing a serious threat to the lives of fishermen as Crocodile sightings are very common in the area.

MP Pointed out that about five months back a Crocodile was shifted from the area after it was sighted multiple times.

MP also mentioned that the fishermen are forced to anchor their boats near the shore by going into chest-deep water, putting their lives at risk.

He informed that a fish landing jetty will not only save the fishermen from crocodiles but also provide convenience to the fishermen.
