Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to sanction a Multipurpose Hall for Baratang region under Khelo India.
MP informed the Lt. Governor that Baratang Island of Middle Andaman is known for producing several talented Sportspersons who have participated in National and International level events in Rowing, Kayaking, Hockey, Football etc.
He further informed that the youth of the area face many hurdles to train for the sport of their interest. MP further added that although a few playgrounds are available in the region, but the residents have been demanding a Multipurpose Hall where the youth can train during all weather conditions.
MP also pointed out that it rains almost half the time every year in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the youth of the region face difficulties to train during the rains.
He also informed that the Multipurpose hall can also be used for organising regional and state-level competitions thus giving more exposure to the youth of the area.
