Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has requested the Lt. Governor of A & N Islands to convert the parking area of G.B Pant Hospital into multilevel parking.
Mr. Sharma mentioned that converting the existing parking into multilevel parking will accommodate hundreds of vehicles besides ensuring that the roads are not blocked and ambulances are able to commute freely during emergencies.
Mr. Sharma also mentioned that the present parking area at G.B Pant Hospital is inadequate to accommodate the ever-increasing number of vehicles belonging to staff, patients, attenders etc. He also mentioned that the huge rush in the parking area is highly inconvenient for the patients, attenders and staff, and leads to traffic congestion.
MP also informed that the lack of sufficient parking space leads to people parking their vehicles at Cellular Jail Road which results in more traffic congestion.
