In a significant development aimed at improving community infrastructure and welfare, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament representing the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, inaugurated a new community hall for the washermen community at Dhobighat, Prem Nagar, Port Blair. The inauguration ceremony marked the fulfilment of a longstanding demand from the local washermen community and was met with enthusiasm and gratitude from the residents.
Constructed under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), the newly inaugurated community hall is poised to play a crucial role in enhancing the working conditions and overall well-being of the washermen. With adequate facilities and a conducive environment, the hall is expected to enable washermen to carry out their work efficiently while also providing a space for rest during breaks.
During his address at the inauguration, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma underscored the significance of addressing the needs of local communities and providing essential amenities for their welfare. He expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to contribute to the development of Dhobighat and emphasized the importance of initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and living conditions for all residents.
The presence of Mrs. Amar Devi, Councillor of Ward No. 7 of the Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC), among other guests, highlighted the collaborative efforts between local authorities and elected representatives in addressing community needs and fostering development.
