In a bid to further elevate the spirit of national pride, Member of Parliament (MP) Kuldeep Rai Sharma of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands has put forth a proposal to install a 24-hour illuminated high-mast Tricolour at VSI International Airport, Port Blair. This initiative aligns seamlessly with the Airports Authority of India’s (AAI) ongoing efforts to promote patriotism at airports across the nation.
In a formal letter addressed to the Hon’ble Minister of Civil Aviation, MP Kuldeep Rai Sharma lauded the AAI’s commitment to instilling a sense of national pride by adorning various airports with high-mast, 24-hour illuminated Tricolours. He emphasised that these installations transcend mere architectural marvels, becoming iconic symbols of aesthetic grandeur and patriotism at their respective locations. They transform airports from mere transit hubs into revered landmarks of national pride.
MP Sharma highlighted the recent inauguration of the new terminal building at VSI Airport in Port Blair. The terminal is poised to become a prominent landmark, essential for enhancing the region’s connectivity and attracting tourism.
Underlining Port Blair’s unique strategic significance and its allure for both domestic and international tourists, MP Kuldeep Rai Sharma proposed the installation of a similar high-mast, 24-hour illuminated Tricolour at VSI Airport. This move is expected to not only enhance the airport’s visual appeal but also resonate with the deep-seated patriotic sentiments of the Islanders and visiting tourists alike.
