In the wake of severe damage caused by recent monsoon rains, Member of Parliament for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, has called upon the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to address the dire state of multiple road stretches in the capital city of Port Blair.
The affected areas include the road leading to the Bhatu Basti junction, situated directly in front of the private truck stand, and the road connecting Corbyn’s Cove Junction to Prothrapur Junction. These road segments have deteriorated to a point where they are nearly impassable, causing significant inconvenience to the residents of Port Blair, including daily commuters, school students, and the general public who heavily rely on these routes for their daily transportation needs.
With potholes and damaged surfaces posing safety hazards and hindering traffic flow, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has formally requested the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to intervene and expedite the necessary repair work on these roads to ensure their safety and accessibility.
The deteriorating condition of these vital transportation routes has raised concerns among the local populace, who have been enduring these hardships for too long. Commuters have faced increased travel times and vehicle maintenance costs due to the poor road conditions. School students, in particular, have been severely affected, with their daily commute becoming treacherous.
