In a momentous occasion for the residents of Ward Number 23 of the Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC), Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament representing the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, laid the foundation stone for a 190-meter long Cement Concrete (CC) road equipped with side drains. This vital infrastructure project, estimated at a cost of approximately Rs. 37,00,000, was sanctioned under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) in response to the pressing demands of the local community.
The ceremony, which took place on October 20, 2023, witnessed the presence of a multitude of prominent personalities and community leaders, underscoring the significance of this development. Notable attendees included Mrs. Radhika Dheeraj, the Ward Councillor, Mr. V Vetrivelu, Ward Councillor of Ward Number 19, and Mr. Sanjay Meshak, Former Ward Councillor.
In his address to the gathered audience, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma expressed his confidence that the construction of this CC road, funded through MPLADS, would bring substantial benefits to the residents of Ward Number 23 of PBMC. The road’s construction signifies a significant step towards enhancing the local infrastructure and ensuring easier accessibility for the community.
This project is expected to address the long-standing concerns of the residents in terms of connectivity, transportation, and overall quality of life in the area.
