Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has come in support of the Daily Rated Mazdoors and Casual Workers of Port Blair Municipal Council.
Speaking in the Lower House of the Parliament on Friday, the MP raised the issue of the dire financial condition and the poor working conditions of the 902 Daily Rated Mazdoors & Casual Workers of PBMC, who are working in PBMC for the past 10 to 15 years.
Mr. Sharma urged the Govt. to take a one time measure to regularise all 902 DRMs and Casual Workers of PBMC. He pointed out that these workers have crossed their age to be eligible for Govt. Employment and their health has been affected due to the daily exposure to garbage.
He mentioned that these workers have no other means of employment and regularising their services will greatly benefit them and their families.
