Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has recommended the purchase of a Mortuary Van for Rangat Tehsil under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme.
The Mortuary Van will be provided to Panchayat Samiti, Rangat and will cost around Rs. 15 Lakhs.
Once inducted, the Mortuary Van will not only help the residents of Rangat during the last rites of their loved ones but can also be pressed into service for transporting the bodies of the residents of Rangat from Port Blair.
At present people from the North and Middle Andaman District are facing difficulties in transporting bodies from Port Blair to their home villages due to the high price charged by private mortuary vans operators.
