Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has sanctioned the purchase and supply of 01 Mahindra 575 DI XP Plus Tractor fitted with cultivator attachments viz. Iron Wheel Set, Fertiliser Drill, Tiller etc. for Laxmi Nagar Gram Panchayat, Great Nicobar. Rs. 15 Lakhs has been sanctioned for the purchase and supply of the tractor for agricultural purposes and other allied field works of the Gram Panchayat from the MPLADS Fund.
Laxmi Nagar Panchayat is a remote region in Great Nicobar Island and the economy of the Panchayat depends on agriculture. Majority of the residents of Laxmi Nagar Panchayat depend on agriculture for their livelihood.
MP was reportedly informed of the problems being faced by the farmers of the Laxmi Nagar Panchayat due to the non-availability of a properly functioning tractor.
Once the tractor is delivered to the Panchayat it will ease the lives of the farmers to a great extent.
