Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, advocates for improved shipping services for Car Nicobar Island residents.
In a compelling plea to the Chief Secretary of the A & N Administration, MP Kuldeep Rai Sharma has raised concerns regarding the inadequate vessel facilities catering to the extended journey to Car Nicobar, specifically referencing the MV Bharat Seema. Sharma emphasised the substantial challenges faced by residents and travellers due to insufficient amenities aboard the vessel.
Expressing appreciation for recent initiatives deploying vessels like Nalanda and Sindhu for limited sailings to Car Nicobar, Sharma highlighted their positive impact on the local tribal community. However, recent observations regarding the declining quality of service on MV Bharat Seema have prompted Sharma to push for consistent sailings of vessels like Sindhu and Nalanda, renowned for their superior service and amenities.
With the holiday season fast approaching, Sharma stressed the importance of reliable ship schedules to facilitate travel between Car Nicobar and Port Blair. This travel surge during Christmas necessitates improved connectivity and convenience for islanders, Sharma highlighted.
In light of these concerns, MP Kuldeep Rai Sharma urged immediate intervention from the Chief Secretary to prioritise regular sailings of vessels like Sindhu and Nalanda to Car Nicobar. Sharma firmly believes that this proactive approach will significantly enhance overall connectivity and convenience for residents, not just during the holiday season but also in the long term.
