In a bid to address the long-standing transportation woes of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament representing the region, has called upon the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, to urgently intervene for the commencement of Fixed Wing Aircraft Service.

In a formal letter to the Minister of Civil Aviation, Mr. Sharma underscored the commendable efforts made by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration over the years to kickstart the Fixed Wing Aircraft Service connecting Port Blair with Diglipur, and Port Blair with Campbell Bay via Car Nicobar.

The Member of Parliament highlighted the successful completion of crucial milestones, including the construction of a 1,000-meter runway at Diglipur and Campbell Bay. Additionally, he pointed out that the passenger hall at Diglipur is already in place, prepared to facilitate the anticipated services.

Despite these achievements, Mr. Sharma expressed concern over unforeseen delays that have hampered the progress of the project, causing significant setbacks. He emphasized the need for immediate intervention from the Ministry of Civil Aviation to expedite the remaining formalities and overcome bureaucratic obstacles efficiently.

Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma expressed confidence that prompt action from the Ministry could swiftly address the challenges, urging the initiation of a 19-seater Fixed Wing Aircraft Service in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Highlighting the potential benefits of the service, he noted that the commencement of a regular 19-seater Fixed Wing Aircraft Service between Port Blair and Diglipur, as well as Port Blair and Campbell Bay via Car Nicobar, would bring tremendous relief to the residents of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This relief is particularly crucial for those residing in Nicobar District and the North Andaman region, addressing their long-standing transportation concerns.

The Member of Parliament concluded his letter with optimism, anticipating a favourable response from the Ministry of Civil Aviation to ensure swift implementation of the Fixed Wing Aircraft Service, enhancing connectivity and accessibility for the islanders.
