In a recent meeting with the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Member of Parliament Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma passionately advocated for the conversion of lands into house sites, aiming to address the housing predicaments faced by the general public.
During the discussion, Mr. Sharma highlighted the plight of numerous retirees who, having invested their lifetime savings into building homes, encounter significant challenges due to the inability to convert their land into house sites. The MP also shed light on the struggles faced by individuals who have secured loans from banks for housing construction but find themselves unable to proceed with construction due to the land conversion roadblock.
Expressing the urgency of the matter, Mr. Sharma earnestly appealed for a streamlined and expedited process to facilitate the conversion of at least 500 square meters of land into house sites. He emphasised that such a move would offer much-needed relief to the islanders grappling with housing-related issues.
The Member of Parliament’s plea comes as a response to the growing concerns within the community, where a substantial number of residents are caught in a deadlock preventing them from realising their dream of building a home on their own land.
Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma implored the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor to consider the proposal seriously, stressing the positive impact it would have on the lives of those struggling with housing challenges. The streamlined conversion process, as proposed by the MP, is expected to empower retirees and individuals, enabling them to actualise their housing plans.
